For many years my life was Paralympic Sport; and then two small boys came along and made extended stays in Beijing and Sochi not seem quite so appealing. I was the Swimming Team Manager for GB at Sydney 2000. I was part of the England Team administration for Manchester 2002, and the Assistant Chef de Mission for the GB Paralympic Team in Athens 2004. I was the Team Attache in Turin 2006. My involvement in Beijing was much less; I was pregnant with Child Two and I managed home based projects. I will be filled with interest, admiration, envy and many other emotions as I watch London 2012, but I can't wait!
With my previous roles I have met the most amazing people, and seen sports people achieve amazing levels of performance. I have met royalty and attended Palace Receptions. I have virtually drowned in sports kit and clothing. I have dealt with repatriations, protests, medal redistributions, euphoric athletes and devastated athletes. I have made life long friends. I hope I have helped a few people along the way. My heart will forever be at the Paralympic Games no matter where in the world it is held and no matter how far away I am.
