I love Christmas! I really love Christmas! I have two very excited little boys desperately wondering if they are on Father Christmas's "Good List".... and worried about the implications if one of them "is" and one of them "isn't". BUT, I find myself a little "Scrooge" like when it comes to carol singers. They usually sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and are a group of giggling lads that I can only call "chancers". They can't sing and they have no charity collection box. They wish a merry Christmas to "me and my king" .....I doubt they know what kin are, and they hold out a supermarket carrier bag for my donation. Very often they return the next day to see how much more money they can raise. I begrudge it. I found myself cowering behind the front door today and not answering it. I know it's not in the festive spirit, but why should I fund their next computer game? I have a little song of my own for them....
Carol singers are very welcome
But please sing in key
And collection boxes only
For you favourite charity
